UltraSafe™ Safety Helmets – Unique, Patented Safety Equipment
Knowing where to find the best PPE in the world is one piece of information you should not keep under your hat. But, if you wanted to keep this knowledge safe, there would be no better protected place than under our new UltraSafe™ helmets.
Why Choose UltraSafe™?
Created as a working partnership between Draws International Ltd & S3 ID Ltd in conjunction with Sheffield Hallam University, UltraSafe™ has been designed for use in the Oil, Gas, Energy & Petro-Chemical Industries, to exceed the most stringent safety levels required by current legislation and standards for safety helmets and to provide enhanced side impact strength & protection to weight ratios, making it one of the lightest, most comfortable units to wear for extended periods.
Uniquely, this product’s design incorporates patented RFID technology ATEX certified for use in Zone 1 Hazardous areas which allows the product’s ownership, history and inspection record and even it’s user’s details to be embedded, thus ensuring that this most widely used piece of safety equipment will always be properly maintained and that expired units are safely withdrawn at end of life or following impact damage.
Unique RFID Features
The UltraSafe™ helmet is unique in having its own RFID ‘identity’ built in at time of manufacture. The embedded tag is robust, tamper resistant and stores pre-defined key, safety related information, such as the product’s unique serial number, its date of manufacture and its designed service life-span (the date after which it should be mandatorily withdrawn from use). Additionally, the tag stores other data, for example its ownership (which is usually be pre-set at point of manufacture) and service life user data, such as the allocated user’s name, other pertinent information (such as emergency contact data) and the product’s inspection history, which would be updated during the product’s life using the service tools and readers described below.
A further benefit of this unique product is that since the user’s ID is recorded along with the other helmet data in the embedded RFID tag, the helmet can be used along with other S3 products as part of our location, Personnel On Board (POB), tracking, mustering and personnel management solutions. This ability may be still further enhanced in that UltraSafe™ has also been designed to accept, using a special mount at the rear of the helmet, both S3 ID’s latest Ultra Wide Band and GPS+ tags, allowing helmet user locations to be monitored in real-time for safety purposes.

Computer Based Tools and Readers
Along with the UltraSafe™ helmet, S3 ID also supply SmartReader™, a specialist PC based tool and USB reader wand. The package includes comprehensive user guidelines (following simple flowchart procedures) for new helmet issue and processing, conducting audits / safety checks and for withdrawing expired / damaged products from use.
SmartReader™ is designed to enhance personnel safety by ensuring that only fully serviceable helmets are in use on a site and is currently sold as a ‘shrink wrapped’ boxed product set comprising a PC based Basic Reader Software Suite & Database and a USB type Reader ‘Wand’.
Recall from service alarms are automatically generated by the SmartReader™ system as a helmet approaches its end of life. Alarms are also raised where a helmet is found to require immediate inspection or replacement by an RFID ‘spot check’ or ‘emergency interrogation’ of its identity.
UltraSafe™ is also available in a non-ATEX certified ‘general industrial’ version known as SuperSafe™
